The tournament in Gibraltar has established itself as one of the strongest Opens around. Therefore it is very nice to see two players already registered to play in the Reykjavik Open among the top three players before the last round.
Nigel Short has done exceptionally well in the Gibraltar tournament the last few years and this year doesn’t seem to be an exception. Before the last round he is leading with 7.5 out of 9 along with Vitiugov and Maxim Vachier-Lagrave.
Lagrave is the top seed in the Reykjavik Open and nice to have both of them arriving in Reykjavik in top form.
