The Reykjavik Open 2025 wrapped up on Tuesday after nine intense rounds of play, and it was Iran’s GM Parham Maghsoodloo who emerged victorious with an impressive 7½/9. A final-round draw on board one was enough to secure sole first place and the €5,000 top prize. His aggressive and consistent play throughout the tournament proved too much for the chasing pack.
Trailing just behind at 7/9 were a crowd of world-class grandmasters. Ukrainian legend GM Vasyl Ivanchuk claimed second place on tiebreaks, while GM Mahammad Muradli (AZE) secured third. Rounding out the top 10 were GMs Velimir Ivic, Abhijeet Gupta, Shanglei Lu, Brandon Jacobson, Elham Amar, Matthieu Cornette, and Joshua Friedel—all tied with 7 points.
