The Harpa Blitz 2025 tournament took place on the evening of April 8th at the Harpa Conference Hall, marking an exhilarating prelude to the Reykjavik Open 2025. The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including several grandmasters and international masters, all competing in a 10-round Swiss system with a time control of 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move. Over 170 players in total battled it out!
Grandmaster Lu Shanglei from China emerged victorious, demonstrating exceptional speed and precision throughout the tournament finishing with 9 points out of the 10 rounds. He was closely followed by Grandmaster Denis Kadric from Montenegro and International Masters Kilic Eray from Turkey and Vladislav Larkin from Ukraine, all of them finishing with 8 points of 10. The competition was fierce, with numerous closely contested matches that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
