Remarkably the top of the table is getting tighter again six rounds into the tourney after seveal players capitalized on the lack of decisive results on the top boards. All four top boards ended in draws with Gawain drawing Gupta, Kamsky with Almasi and Vidit with Jobava. Giri had the longest game on the top boards but couldn’t make any headway against Grandelius.
Several players on 4/5 capitalized, including Movsesian putting a halt to the impressive run of Aman Hambleton.
Tomorrow there will be some interesting games as always. Note that tomorrows round starts at 17:00 instead of the usual 15:00. Giri will face off against Kamsky, Grandelius against Andreikin and Jobava against Landa to name a few. On some lower tables we’ll also find interesting matchups as the young Praggnanandhaa faces the legend Beliavsky.
Live games can always be found on the official site.
