Despite Iceland buthering the Dutch on the football pitch, the Dutch duo of Peter Doggers and Arne Moll don’t seem to mind visiting the Reykjavik Open. Peter has been handling the broadcasts at the Reykjavik Open for a long time now and Arne has visited the tournament on a number of occasions.
They both answered questions about the past and became part of history at the same time by becoming the first individuals to win the Reykjavik Open Pub Quiz on two occasions! Arne previously won pairing up with Lennart Ootes while Peter teamed up with Ian Rogers if memory doesn’t fail the write of these words!
As per usual competitors (about 20 teams of 2 to 3) had to answer 30 questions on chess history and this time around the Quiz was centered very much around Bobby Fischer.
In the end Peter Doggers and Arne Moll bested several formidable teams and got 24.5 points out of the 30 possible. Second place was capture by a local team of Adalsteinn Thorarensen and Agust Orn Gislason. They came very close with 23.25 point and had changed their mind last minute on a few questions that cost them.
