The Reykjavik Open keeps getting more interesting and we keep rolling out a new #1 seed! At the time of writing our latest addition just today sealed a draw against the current World Chess Champion!
We are talking of course about Russia’s #6 and current World #24, the 2736 rated Dmitry Andreikin!

Andreikin was World U-10 Junior Champion in 1999 and then won the World Junior Championship in 2010. He is still relatively young and perhaps not as well known as he should be because of the wealth of Russian +2700 chess players.
His most notable results to date include reaching the final of the 2013 World Cup before losing to Kramnik and winning 2nd leg of the Grand Prix in Tashkent in 2014 ahead of World class players.
Dmitry is a well rounded, talented and creative grandmaster and we can expect him to fight for top honors at the GAMMA Reykjavik Open this coming April. The only question is, do we have more to players up our sleeve?
